Sketchy Mutts and Underdogs is a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization, located in the Indianapolis metro area.  We are dedicated to saving the lives of dogs who are at high risk of euthanasia in area shelters, due to behavioral issues, medical conditions, or overcrowding.  We are primarily a foster-based organization, although we have the ability to temporarily house dogs in our facility until foster or forever homes can be found.

The Adoption Process

Sketchy Mutts and Underdogs has dogs for adoption in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Please take a look at our dogs on Petfinder. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please complete an online adoption application. After we receive your application, one of our adoption coordinators will contact you.

We would then do a home visit, where we bring the dog to your home to meet all family members and introduce the dog to your existing pets. It is important for everyone living in your home to be present for the home visit. Before finalizing any adoption, we prefer for the dog to have one or more “overnights” in your home. We feel this is the best way for everyone involved to be confident that welcoming this dog into your home is a good, life-long decision. All dogs will be current on vaccinations, spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped prior to entering your home. Once adoption is final, we will provide you with all medical records and re-register the microchip in your name.

Adoption Fees

Thanks to generous donations from our community, we are able to offer a flat adoption fee, regardless of what we spend on medical treatment or behavioral rehabilitation before a dog is ready for adoption.

• Adult Dogs: $200

• Puppies/young dogs 1-2 years of age: $250

• Puppies under 1 year: $300
